Description
Egusi (melon seeds) are the foundation of one of Nigeria’s most popular dishes – Egusi soup. These cream-colored seeds from a specific melon variety have a mild, nutty flavor and create the signature thick, protein-rich texture of authentic Egusi soup. When ground and cooked, they form a rich, creamy paste that absorbs the flavors of meat, fish, and vegetables perfectly. High in protein (28g per 100g), healthy fats, vitamins B1, B2, and minerals including iron, calcium, and magnesium. Also known as white pumpkin seeds or melon seeds. Can be dry-roasted and eaten as a snack, but most commonly ground fresh or purchased pre-ground for soup preparation. Our whole seeds are carefully cleaned and sorted for uniform size and quality. Ground Egusi is freshly milled and packaged to preserve oils and flavor. Essential pantry item for anyone cooking Nigerian food. Pairs perfectly with bitter leaf, spinach, or pumpkin leaves. Gluten-free and nutrient-dense.
